Upgrade your wood blocks to the Comfort X-ray Blocks!
Radiographing the equine foot requires elevating the hooves to align the X-ray beam correctly. The traditional method of doing this is with wood blocks, which both horses and humans generally dislike:
- Horses can get anxious when standing on wood blocks because they feel slippery and insecure.
- This results in horses becoming restless and moving around, often stepping off the blocks.
- To be light enough to handle easily, wood blocks are small (often just larger than hooves) so placing and replacing hooves on them can be difficult.
- Radiographing the feet can take longer than necessary because of constant adjustments.
- Nervous, tense horses are the last thing you want around your expensive equipment and human handlers.
Standard SURE FOOT Pads are not appropriate for taking radiographs. Their pliability makes them too soft, causing horses to sink into them and resulting in distorted images. Therefore, an entirely new product was developed at the request of veterinarians and farriers to meet the need for taking radiographs safely, quickly, and accurately.
Comfort X-ray Blocks are made of an engineered material which is significantly firmer. They are designed not to yield when the horse stands on them but to have just enough “give” and grip so that horses feel safe and secure. The Comfort Blocks have been tested with draft horses over 18 hands to be sure they can be used with horses of varying weight and hoof size.
Specifications
Comfort X-ray Blocks are packaged in pairs. They come with a Warranty Card Registration Form and QR code for immediate access to the SURE FOOT Equine website for online registration and education.

Comfort X-ray Blocks are horse- and user-friendly. Their size and weight mean they will not slip or slide on concrete or barn aisles, wash stalls, veterinary exam room floors, dirt, gravel, stall mats, or other common surfaces. Comfort Blocks are non-porous and antibacterial, and can be cleaned with a sponge and warm water.
Assembled in the USA.
Caring For Your Blocks
Before using SURE FOOT Pads or Blocks for the first time, rub a small amount of dirt or footing on the colored surface. This will prevent them from sticking together or from sticking to the horse’s hoof during the initial use.
If needed, Pads or Blocks can be cleaned with a sponge and warm water.
SURE FOOT Equine Balance Pads are a tool to benefit horses. Though durable, just like your other equipment they will show wear and tear over time. Nicks, tears, and cuts are considered normal and do not alter the effect of the Pads in any way.
Store SURE FOOT Pads where rodents can't get to them. When not using the Pads, please don't leave them:
- In a closed vehicle (like a car or trailer)
- Exposed to excessive heat
- Out in prolonged sunlight
Simply - if you wouldn’t leave your dog there, don’t leave your Pads there.
